Tasting Notes Its major grape variety, Galotta is a cross of Gamay and Ancellotta - an Italian variety from Emilia-Romagnain, North-central Italy. Its name may have originated from the Lancellotti family in either the 14th or 15th century. Gamaret and Garanoir are both a cross of Gamay and Reichensteiner (a white variety). Galotta provides excellent colour, structure and tannin, making it ideal as a blending variety. All three varieties are well resistant to rot.
Fully ripe blackberries, black cherries, a smidgen of spice and a dash of cherry liqueur on the nose along with a rich and fruity slightly spicy palate. They all infiltrate the senses and leave a lingering finish.
Food & Mood Match Gooey, hot, dark chocolate sweet treats. For meat lovers, game is the perfect companion. Chocolate conjures up romance, so I'll leave it up to your imagination...
